We both loved this piece deeply. You definitely captured the spirit of our (yours too) place. The short history is an adventure all of its own.

There's a tear in my eye and a smile on my face as I re-read this piece again this morning. Just lovely.

I loved this early-morning piece to read about your family slowly building a unique and personal forest. It sounds truly magical. I adore this kind of experimentation with growing plants, especially in the paragraph where you're comparing the unlikely pairings of plants growing together!

Our yard is much smaller (an acre total) but same, same! We laugh a lot at the difference between our place and our neighbors’ yards, especially the whimsically and tenderly mown front lawn w patches of wildflowers and transplanted sunflowers and lilacs, and honeysuckle spilling out, and the deep hole our kid joyously dug with friends, next to the precise and orderly grass and hedge next door. Thank you for a great Monday morning read and letting us wander through the land a while.
