and associated ephemera including a book about feral cabbages, Deep Time, a field guide to bacteria, the coolest press in CDMX, and more from the San Francisco Art Book Fair
These are EXACTLY the highlights from the SFABF I wanted and needed. Thank you Alexis! Loving this newsletter. I would love a postcard--where would you like me to non-publicly share my address? I will send you some plant stuff back if you include a mailing address as well.
Hey Alexis, really interested to hear that you're thinking about publishing something in print. I run an independent magazine club called Stack – we deliver a different magazine every month to thousands of readers around the world. They never know what they're going to get next, but they do know it will be a lovely independent magazine they probably wouldn't otherwise have come across. I'd love to speak with you about what you have planned to see if it would fit with the sort of things we send out. Let me know if you'd be up for making a time to talk...
Hey Steven! I love the idea of Stack. I'd be very interested in chatting. What we're plotting may/may not fit *exactly* into the ~magazine~ category (although what is a magazine really). You wanna send me an email and we can figure it out? alexis.madrigal@gmail.com
“Maybe one day, you can whisper to me about how to thrive in chaos, despite everything? Will I hear you?” - this made me think of when Prairie/Nina falls into the tree internet in The OA and the trees tell her they’ve been whispering to her for her whole life 🥰
Can I confess that I have never watched The OA? Mostly because I never watch any TV... on account of ... *waves indistinctly around* But also because: I just don't know what is gonna be good or align with my interests... So, for me, specifically... This is the perfect ad for a show. I will start it!
Enjoy! It’s a wonderful ride. I recommend it to people because of moments like this. Then I’m nervous that they won’t like s1 and never make it to s2 where these kind of moments happen.
Statements of high spiritual feeling consciousness in union with the natural world of plants. I am drawn into a deep feeling place by reading some of the quotes from these beautiful tiny books. I am reminded of a sacred grounding experience as I hugged a giant ancient oak tree.

Ephemeral permanence.
How I wish I could have accompanied you on your fascinating expedition!
Ok this is everything.
It’s just the best idea
Logical!
I mean the Missed Connections for the more-than-human world, of course (tho I think Oakland Garden Club is a good idea, too
All of the above!
